2007-2013 Chevrolet Avalanche Custom Headlights

Fog Lights, Lens Etching, Paintwork, Projector Retrofit, Switchback Halos/Strips

Another headlight build, yay!  This time for a blacked out Chevy Avalanche with a nice subtle touch: a passive demon eye and projector lens etched with the Batman logo.

Started with buying some new aftermarket housings and a bunch of lighting equipment.  These headlights are the exact same for the Chevrolet Avalanche, the Tahoe, and the Suburban from 2007 to 2013.  The customer also wanted all of his interior and exterior lighting replaced with LED bulbs.  Equipment utilized in the build was Morimoto Mini H1 7.0 Projector (etched with Dark Knight logo!) Morimoto XB 6500K HID kit, all Mori XB or XVF series LED bulbs and the XB LED Fog lights (shown later).

I started with what I was most excited about: the passive demon eye.  This is a real nice subtle touch that makes the lens appear a single color at certain angles and does not affect the light output characteristics in any way.  Pretty simple: disassemble the projector lens assembly and paint the interior components.  Tada, passive demon eye!

Shroud selection, trimming, test fitting:

Stock chrome pieces, chrome removed, and painted rattle can satin black (ew, but it’s what the customer wanted)

Projector lens assembly being put together with switchback halos mounted

Final assembly begins:

Housing is reassembled and the wiring is redone with LED bulbs and installed…

Let the glamour photos commence!

A quick sidenote showcasing of the Morimoto XB LED fog lights and some interior Morimoto XB LED Festoon Bulbs:

All right, time to go on site to Tampa Autosports to install these headlights on the customer’s vehicle and get some in-action light output pictures (sorta).

Stock worthless fog lights and comparison for the swap out…

INSTALLED PICTURES!!!

(yay, I so rarely get to see my headlights installed on the vehicle since they get shipped all over the country)

This was a really cool truck, no doubt, and I was honored to be able to play a part in the final look.  I think the styling came out fantastic and the headlights tied in really well.

Until next time!  Much love, 13
